31DC-D17 - Recreate a mani

Hey y'all!

Happy Saturday!  Today's prompt for the 31-Day Challenge is "Recreate a Mani by your Favorite Blogger."  I actually have far too many "favorite" bloggers to be able to pick just one, but I've had a few manis in my hat for future recreations, so I've just pulled one of those out of the vault.  Jessica at BeHappyAndBuyPolish created this awesome dark blue and neon coral dotticure for her "What You Need to Have (And Keep) Great Nails While At College" composite post, and I loved the color combination so much that I knew I wanted to have a go at recreating it.  Although I didn't have the same colors as Jessica, I approximated them with what I had on hand, and came up with this look.

I started this look with two coats of Maybelline Color Show Bleached Neons Coral Heat on my ring finger and two coats of China Glaze Up All Night everywhere else.  This was my one and only Bleached Neon from last summer's release - mostly because since they were almost advertised as being "perfect for tan skin" I figured my pasty complexion wouldn't suit them,  I'm happy to see that it actually has a lovely tone and was pretty opaque for a neon polish.

Obviously, I created the polka dots in the contrasting color with one of my smallest dotting tool tips.  With dots this small, it's really hard to keep the size consistent, but I think it was a lot easier as I went along.  I did a smaller polka dot pattern than Jessica's original, as well, because I wanted the extra practice.

I couldn't help checking it out with a matte finish, either, so I applied Sally Hansen big matte for the final pic.

Hope you're all having a great weekend, and I'll see ya tomorrow!
